Look Before You LEAP

E-mail Print PDF

leaplogoLook Before You LEAP teaches families how to protect themselves against environmental dangers such as pesticides and other toxins. Our educational materials and www.ribbet.org website gives parents all the tools they need to make important decisions that are fun, friendly…and froggy. At Ribbet.org, kids learn how to “Look Before You L.E.A.P.” (L.E.A.P. stands for Lead, Endocrine Disruptors, Air Pollution and Pesticides) in and around their homes.

Patterns of illness in American children have changed dramatically over the last century. Asthma, learning disabilities, autism, obesity and leukemia are the most common and some of the most feared childhood diseases. Mounting scientific evidence has demonstrated the aforementioned may have contributed to the increase. Why?

Toxic Triggers

E-mail Print PDF

Toxic Triggers are environmental toxins that interact with genetic susceptibility to produce disease in certain individuals.  Prevention Is The Cure has put together a comprehensive list of these toxic triggers, their harmful effects and the alternative/safer products and practices we can use to protect our health RIGHT NOW!  Science is always evolving and may not always provide certainty.   Certain exposures may be considered safe at one point in time, but determined years later to be unsafe.  The Toxic Trigger chart illustrates where there are known, as well as suspected risks that should be avoided.   Our goal is to make you aware of potential problems so that we are empowered to make healthier choices.  PITC encourages further research on the following triggers.

Organic Lawn Flag Program

naturallyAs we begin to understand more about chemicals, our environment and our health, we can choose to err on the side of caution. One such choice is to stop applying toxic pesticides on our property. These flags are for people like you who have decided to approach their partnership with the ecosystem in a more natural way. By using the precautionary principle, we are participating in an intervention and prevention program to promote breast health for our family and our community.

Some people have come to the conclusion that toxic pesticides on lawns are like toxic drugs in our bodies... in the long run they actually weaken the body. We are learning that with a "well balanced" healthy soil, nature can take care of itself. By using organic methods, you can prevent weeds, crab grass and brown spots. The closer the soil is to its natural state, the less toxic pesticides will be needed.
