Educating
Our Public about the Children’s Environmental Health
Center (CEHC), Huntington

The Children’s Environmental Health Center integrates
science-based information, medical practitioners, and the
community by providing resources to help the lower risks of
disease. The materials created for this program, “Look
Before You LEAP” educational materials focus on informing
our community about raising healthy children in a toxic world
with emphasis on - lead, endocrine disruptors, air pollution
and pesticides.
Over the past months, our LEAP Road Show committee presented
many outreach programs across Long Island. Parents were introduced
to Ribbet the frog, who delivers the message on ways to reduce
exposure to potentially harmful substances, such as plastics
and chemicals used in everyday products. Thank you, NYS Senator
Carl Marcellino for this extraordinary opportunity. Thanks
to Legislator Steve Stern who joined us to spread the word
at a recent Half Hollow Hills PTA Council meeting. Our sincere
appreciation to the Child Care Council of Suffolk for their
partnership. Community outreaches were held at Whitman High
School, Half Hollow Hills Wellness Fair and Oyster Bay Annual
Health & Fitness fair.
